Nel 1948 Roberto Rossellini (Il Dottore), ambienta tra il Fiordo di     Furore, e le scalinate che salgono sino alla Chiesa di San Michele,       l’episodio centrale del film “Amore” (Il Miracolo),  con Anna Magnani (La Storta).  E fu proprio qui che i due vissero la loro tormentata e    intensa storia d’amore, tanto che comprarono 2 monazzeni,  case-deposito, dei pescatori sulla spiaggia del Fiordo, e ironicamente li ribattezzarono : “La Villa del Dottore”, e “La Villa della Storta”.

  

 

The Fjord of Furore and the dramatic stairway that leads up to the church of San Michele, was the unique setting for Roberto Rossellini’s (also known as the    Doctor) film “Amore” (the Miracle ), starring the legendary Anna Magnani (somewhat unkindly nicknamed the Bandy legged), in 1948. This beautiful film set provided the background to the beginning and the end of the intense but    tormented love story that Rossellini and Magnani were living off set. In a  moment of passion, and captivated by the beauty of the Fjord, they bought two ‘monazzeni’, fisherman cottages, from two local fisherman working on the shore of the Fjord, naming them ironically The Doctor’s Villa and the The Bandy Legged  Villa.

Si racconta che durante le riprese del film cominciarono ad arrivare i   primi telegrammi  di Ingrid Bergman che chiedeva un incontro con il   regista scatenando una violenta gelosia in Nannarella. Alla fine in uno dei ristoranti della zona, Nannarella,  furibonda e ingelosita, diede fine alla storia d’amore ricoprendo il regista con una gustosa zuppiera di   spaghetti al pomodoro.  Lei scappò, il Dottore andò a Parigi a incontrare la Bergamann e  il romantico nido d’amore al Fiordo, fu abbandonato. Anna Magnani non tornò mai più a Furore, regalò la sua casa al vecchio custode del Fiordo.

History tells us that during the filming,  the first telegrams began arriving from the actress Ingrid Bergman who was extremely keen to meet Rossellini,      sparking a violent and furious jealousy in Nannarella. The intense love story   between these two greats came to an explosive finale in a local restaurant, where Nannarella in an impulsive display of jealousy threw a large bowl of    spaghetti and tomato sauce over Rossellini’s head, a tale that is still told today by the locals with much enjoyment. Magnani fled and the Doctor took off to Paris to meet Bergman. Their love nest at the Fjord was abandoned. Anna Magnani never again returned to Furore, and later gave her house to the old guardian of the Fjord.
